Kuehl Variable Speed Evaporator Fan Control
Speed Controller Board AC Controlls
The Kuehl Fan Speed Controller upgrade gives you complete control of your Porsche 911 or 930 evaporator fan motor, and much more. The stock Porsche fan speed switch limited fan speeds: "1" you could not feel, "2" was no better than 1, and "3" was full blast. Now you can have a gentle breeze or all the way to full factory full blast; infinite and fully variable fan speeds! The Kuehl Fan Speed Controller switch replaces your stock Porsche 911 or 930 switch on the right side of the ac console. The controller board is simply mounted in the passenger side air inlet. In addition to having a state of the art control, seldom found even in modern cars today, you now have a unique indicator light to tell you (a) when your a/c system is on, a "green" light and (b) when the compressor is running, a "yellow/orange" light ! We made the installation and wiring simple (no soldering, just plug and go, and of course our instructions make it easy for anyone to do). The Kuehl Fan Speed Controller system includes a new control knob for the right side fan speed, new fan speed switch, wiring harness, fan speed controller board, system indicator LED, all necessary terminal connectors and detailed instructions.

Compressors
OEM - York Compressors
late 1960s through 1983
York Compressor
The Porsche 911 used various a/c systems in the early years, some made by Delanair (later became part of VPC or Volkswagen Products Corp), another firm called Coolaire and Behr. Earliest systems used a Tecumseh 5cu.in. and York 6cu.in. Around 1971 the York 10cu.in. (size shown in the right side picture) became common in the Porsche 911 and 930 up through 1983 (in 1983 the euro 930 starting using the Nippondenso). The York design is uses a crankshaft type piston mechanism. Griffiths stocks brand "new" York 10cu.in. compressors, available without clutch.

York Manifold Fittings
For your Porsche 911 and Porsche 930 we also stock the York compressor manifold valve fittings with base seal that your hose lines connect to (manifolds fail with time and corrosion). If you want to improve your systems performance: cut down on weight, vibration and engine loads, consider upgrading to our Kuehl-507 compressor kits shown below.

Kuehl-507 Rotary Piston Compressor - Update Kits
replaces the York
Kuehl Compressor
Our Kuehl-507 (pronounced as "cool") Porsche 911 and Porsche 930 upgrade kits (for 911's prior to 1984 and turbo's prior to 1983) offer many benefits over the original York compressor found on the early Porsche 911 and Porsche 930 up through 1983. The Kuehl 507 compressor uses a "wobble-plate" update design and is built alike a Sanden compressor. The wobble plate moves five smaller pistons as compared to the York that uses a crankshaft to move two large pistons. The Kuehl 507 compressor wobble-plate update design requires less horse power to turn and is a better match for the condenser area. Our Kuehl 507 upgrade kit uses less engine compartment space & less horse power to turn. You will notice it runs smoother & quieter and improves system efficiency. The Kuehl 507 compressor upgrade and its Kuehl Kwick mounting bracket bolt directly to the original York sub or base plate, which saves you lots of time and knuckle scraping during installation.

For your Porsche 911 and Porsche 930 you can purchase our Kuehl-507 Kits in three configurations to match your objectives & budget: from bare bones compressor with essential replacements to complete system overhaul, such as brand new hose lines made of barrier hose with bead lock crimped fittings. Our new barrier hose lines reduce system refrigerant loss. All Kuehl-507 kits include our exclusive "high-low" pressure cut-out switch feature. The switch prevents the system from running when the high side pressure is either too low or too high. This special features helps to prevent compressor failure and is required by the EPA in certain State applications. We offer our Kuehl-507 Kits in either R12 or R134a in various configurations to meet your performance requirements. We also offer Kuehl-507 Kit's bundled with our Kuehl Condenser Systems packages for additional cost savings.
